Montessori Moment
Montessori term to ponder – The Intelligence of Love
Intelligence of love could be described as the inner guide that leads children to observe what is about them. “It is indeed a form of love that gives them the faculty of observing in such an intense and meticulous manner the things in their environment that we, grown cold, pass by unseeing.” In Maria Montessori’s book The Secrets of Childhood she argues a child has this form of love in them and it ought not be hindered by the adult. Their joy, in fact, ought to bring us life. Reminding us with their curious intelligence of love to stand in wonder and joy of the curious world around us. How a leaf floats from a tree, how a cap fits perfectly on a bottle, a set of stairs to be explored and the morning sun that wakes a child which in turn wakes an adult in an attempt to offer a touch of love. All these things are keenly observed by a child and that joy of learning is worth amplifying and exploring together.
Of all things love is the most potent.
